I have been training jiu jitsu for almost four years. I think that there’s a chance anyone may need to be able to defend themselves one day and women are instantly at a disadvantage because we are generally the weaker sex so I feel it’s even more vital for us to learn to protect ourselves and because jiu jitsu relies on leverage rather than strength, I think it’s the perfect martial art for women. When I first started, I smoked and was quite unfit but I loved jiu jitsu so much that I chose to quit smoking and training regularly improved my fitness and coordination massively. Since learning jiu jitsu, I feel far more confident and I feel like my body is powerful and has more of a purpose than to just look good.
